Actually, this was a small slug.

Raindrops on ladies mantle...

The back garden will be evolving slowly and organically. :)

Kenny: trying not to connect the two in my headlah!

lee ping: very good question...wish i had some ducks in my garden to eat them...then I could have some duck...and I will be top of the food chain ;)

grace I just took a picture and ran away! They just don't shoo.

Ahh... eels and duck! Yums... If no brilliant chef has thought of a dish yet to combine the two, they really should. :D

*wonders why he's the only one ranting & raving about food on a blog entry about garden vermin*

I was curious so I looked it up in Wikipedia. You are right, ducks do eat slugs.

Banana slugs are good because they process leaves, berries, animal droppings, and dead plant material, and then recycle them into soil. They seem to have a fondness for mushrooms, and they spread seeds and spores when they eat. All other slugs are bad. Wikipedia has a photo of banana slugs and they are bright yellow in color just like a banana. They are hermaphrodite which means they have both female and male organs. Slug slime is the best natural glue and has potential use in medicine. I think I am learning more about slugs than I need to.

tankiasu, thank you! Nice of you to come over. I think I should have done a little video of that slug sucking in those pretty bellflowers...but probably too gross!
