Who says fish aren't cuddly?

These two always cosy up to one another at the bottom of the tank!

Summer is too busy. Must spend time indulging kids' whims before they turn into teenagers and it is too late. I have jury duty on Monday, so I expect i won't be able to say a word about it. I might have two weeks worth of lunches up to £5 in value at the Crown Court Cafeteria...what on earth is that going to be like! Maybe I'll finally get to do some food blogging. They may search my camera before leaving the premises though.

Oooh jury duty!! (Images of John Grisham's The Runaway Jury swimming in my head right now) Have fun, girl. Remember, even if you're the only one who disagrees, stand up for the poor innocent victim!

Do you get paid for jury duty? I rememebr they pay quite well for that in NZ

The jury room will be hot. Swelteringly, blisteringly hot. Outside it will be raining. Your fellow jurors will be prejudiced, shallow, bored or plain dumb. They will want to get to the ball game.

You alone will stand up for justice - the truth is worth seeking out.....

LL & SuburbanK: Aiyah, everyone has read more legal thrillers than me.

lyn: I think I can claim expenses, but it won't be much. Civic duty and all that, I say! Since it takes up an entire 2 weeks of your working time, it is a big chunk of volunteering. Where does my time go? Oso must do family recipe book ;)

getting converted perhaps into a foodie blog??

Joe: No-lah! Just kidding about being a foodblogger, I don't have the extra oomph that brings me up to standard I have witnessed among you! I just love reading them too much.

msiagirl. I got off jury duty twice - once with a letter from my boss because we were short of people, and the other one because i had just given birth. I hope I wont have to do any.

You'd make one heck of a cute jury member. ;)

I get off jury duty cos I'm a lawyer but actually, I wouldn't mind seeing what it's like to hold someone's fate in your hands (along with 11 other pairs of hands)

Kak Teh: Unfortunately I am my own boss, no one to write letter for me!

Kenny! LOL yeah the one that almost nodded off in the front row under the beady eye of the judge.

YM: You don't have to go listen to your colleagues drone on and on and on and on? .... that was a good call. Will be interested to see when it comes down to it, what we decide as a team. hmm.

Can't say anything about it - except: obfuscate and shouldn't the defence be trying to make you like them? Puzzled!!

Ah, I love judges with beady eyes. In fact I love John Mortimer's Rumpole series greatlymadlydeeply... :D

I went out and got Rumpole's latest book (John Mortimer, I mean), because I felt I needed some reassurance. And of course, though amusing, it wasn't reassuring in the sense that it was witty, amusing and had a decent plotline - that is a beginning, middle and end - which is not so clearcut in real life. I get no comfort in knowing that it's not going to be so obvious. However I appreciated the effort to entertain me and get a few pot shots in to the pompous ol bods industry. When he caricatures the jury, it was funny to find I was the "studious, chinese woman" meaning, "wearing glasses". Good for him. :)

Ah, you did go get it! Wonderful! I've not read any of the Rumpole novels yet, unfortunately, only the short stories. But I'm glad it cheered you up somewhat. (Though not very reassuring, heh.)

I think if I were a jury member, I'd take way too seriously...

msiagirl said...

Yeah I feel quite serious about it. Will be relieved when over. :)

When not raised in defense, scales as sheilds are smooth yet undulating caresses...just don't rub them the wrong way. Cuddlefish, Cuddlefish... if only they had your ears..8)
