Sunny Intervals - Jacob's Ladder, Bath

This is only the middle bit of the climb up the hill. More steps before and more steps after. I don't always walk it, I confess. But I try to do it more than once a week, hopefully at least three or four times! I caught it in a quiet, summer moment between rain and schoolboys sliding down the bannisters. Apparently they have been doing that for decades from the boy's school at the top - sturdy steel worn smooth by countless...er...slides. There is always birdsong, you'll be able to see the year's progression from these steps: first Spring, now Summer. When the leaves begin to fall, I will chart them to the bareness of winter.

Seems like a nice place for keeping fit: what with birdsong, the fresh scent of wet leaves after rain, and happy chatter and laughter of school children sliding down the bannister. Such hard work usually works up a good appetite too. So, take it easy on those cakes ya.

How poetic to mask a climb so strenuous! Makes me want to go skippity-skip up and down the stairs (which will eventually result in a splatter of heavy mass (me) at the edge of the banister. Ouch.

Hee hee, girls! I usually need a cake before facing the climb back up! Or rather a nice warm, flaky pastry wrapped sausage roll from the cafe at the bottom of the hill where I probably had my soymilk chai latte with a shot of cinnamon syrup. (OK I am imagining it is teh tarik at the mamak stall right?) No wonder I don't get any thinner! There were some half marathon runners training on there earlier this year - phew!
